Leader Communications Inc. Network Support Technician in Columbus, Georgia

Position Summary

The Network Support Technician -Intermediate will provide network support to the data center operations, enterprise systems management, STIG, and IAVM compliance, as well as desktop systems management capabilities.

Individuals must be able to attain and maintain a valid US Government Secret security clearance to be retained in the position.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide designs and upgrades compliant with Information and Technology standards and initiatives development configuration and maintenance of secured and unsecured local area networks (LANs)

  • Review and provide comments on emerging network policies and procedures to network stakeholders and customer

  • Utilize the automated work order system, to track and work customer requests.

  • Provide customer systems support

  • Respond to critical service requests and routine service requests

  • Prepare and submit a change request to support additions, moves, and upgrades that affect the network infrastructure

  • Provide remote and onsite customer support

  • Provide ISP maintenance, which may require installation, testing, voice mail system, voice firewall, and repair of NIPRNET and SIPRNET telecommunications equipment and systems

  • Participate in the change control process

  • Maintain network design documents by the remote site

  • Establish the type of connectivity and termination point

  • Identify and track the protocols and the ports that need to be defined on the firewall and formulate a secure rule

  • Provide Protocols and design to the Information Assurance Division (IAD)

  • Identify the changes for the LAN/WAN infrastructure to make the secure connection

  • Prepare and participate in the change control process

  • Define the ruleset and the necessary protocols with the General Services Passer (GSP) definitions

  • Enable rules and GSP services for the connectivity and test with users and developers

  • Experience in designing and deploying access interfaces with IBM mainframe FEP and remote hosts with TN3270 or SNA/SDLC gateways

  • Ability to develop and execute address plans for IPv4, IPv6, and ITU E.164

  • Knowledge of service provider MPLS networking is a plus

  • Ability to document solutions with MS Office products

  • Must have the ability to effectively communicate with management and peer

  • Ability to troubleshoot network incidences and provide a resolution report to management and/or customer

  • Ability to interact with all team members in a mentoring role, this includes assistance in troubleshooting, and transferring knowledge in regard to systems and topologies deployed

  • Ability to provide designs with a bill of materials and cost estimate

  • Ability to perform network traffic and performance analysis to determine WAN bandwidth requirement and expected performance

Education & Experience Requirements

  • High School Diploma with 2 years of college

  • Level II: Minimum of 3 years of experience
